  1. What a variety you have there, Col! And I can't believe you have that Semyonov! It's not easy to find that, and I remember it as being a good, solid story - one of the first thrillers I read from a (then) Soviet perspective. I saw that Hiaasen, too :-)

    1. Wow - I have heard good things about this book, but am a little bit surprised that it's crossed your radar Margot. Then that said, you're a lot more widely read than I can ever hope to be, so maybe not such a surprise after all!

Time to sneak a Hiaasen into the current reading (soon)!

  2. Margot has read everything Col, you must know that! Not much I recognized this week, so will look forward to finding out more in your future reviews. Something tells me I won't be reading Thong Nation any time soon, mind you.

    1. I do sense a slight weakening Moira, a couple more posts and maybe a review and you'll be positively embracing the thong I reckon.....

  3. Col, I'm with Margot. "Variety" is the key in Tub 36 — but wasn't that the case in your previous 35 tubs? I was tickled by "Spying in Guru Land: Inside Britain's Cults" on account of similar books about Indian godmen and the dubious cults they spawn. The Semyonov book does look interesting. I like Cold War settings.

    1. I have my main diet of crime, but like a wee bit of variety. I was interested in the cult book and it was cheap. The author also has a crime fiction series set in London in the 60's which also looks good. Re Semyonov - I thought a bit of Cold War fiction as presented by the other side would be interesting.

  4. Well, let's see. You've got Robin Spano, Jamie Mason, Henry Chang, and more from William Marshall. The Semyonov sounds interesting to me too. All in all, this is a good tub of books!

    1. Glen, I think 8 of these can be attributed to recommendations from you - Marshall, Spano, Chang and I'm fairly sure Ed Lin as well. You need to slow down or start reading some rubbishy books!

    2. Ed Lin doesn't ring bells but - I just checked - he does look interesting. Drat! Maybe Tracy has them so I won't have to buy them.

    3. Apologies, maybe you got the credit because of the Chinatown setting, which is prevalent with Chang and similar to Marshall in some respects.

    4. Good news. Tracy says she has some of the Ed Lin volumes.

  5. Oh, hope you enjoy them then!

  6. I am going to read Glen's Robin Spano, Jamie Mason, Henry Chang, and William Marshall books... someday. The Robin Spano soon I hope. And some Charlie Muffin books.

    1. Spano has a couple more after this first one, so I hope I like it, but don't love it! Charlie Muffin is going to be a favourite I think after my reaction to the first one - time for the second one soon!
